From Friday 12th to Sunday 14th October thousands of people will be visiting the HSBC UK National Cycling Centre in Manchester for the Bee in the City Farewell Weekend. 101 individually designed 3D bees have formed the largest mass participation public art trail ever to take place across Manchester. Now that summer is over, it is time to say ‘Bye bye bees’ during one last farewell weekend where guests can see all of the bees in one place.
We are looking for enthusiastic production volunteers to help us to bring the event to life and ensure that all of our visitors have a wonderful experience. This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to gain experience in the event production sector and for anyone who would like involvement in a historic Manchester project.
Please note this is a voluntary position.
The main responsibilities of our volunteers will be to support the professional event managers in the set-up, duration and close-down of the event. It will also be key for you to interact with the general public, guiding them to and from the velodrome and around the route, assisting with ticket scanning and helping anyone with any accessibility requirements. You will be given a full event briefing prior to the event taking place. You will also be allocated specific roles during the briefing and given more detail on what your role onsite will entail.
There will be a volunteer briefing on 10th October – venue tbc
Please register your interest by emailing art@beeinthecitymcr.co.uk
Tell us a little bit about yourself, why you are interested in working on the farewell weekend and which days you would like to volunteer.
