GB Taekwondo is hosting the second edition of the World Taekwondo Grand Prix 2014 at the iconic Manchester Central Convention Complex in the heart of Manchester.
This world class event will feature the best Olympic Taekwondo athletes in the World and will be a fantastic sporting showcase as athletes strive for qualification to Rio in 2016.

The competition itself is held over 3 days, between 24th – 26th October 2014.

There are many exciting volunteering opportunities available before, during and after this groundbreaking event.

Taekwondo experience is not necessary for any of the volunteer roles.

You will be made to feel very welcome by our event staff and will have the chance to see dynamic displays of Taekwondo from a number of past, current and future European, World & Olympic Champions.

SPORTING EQUALS SPORT ZONE – Manchester Caribbean Carnival Location – Platt Fields Park
Date – Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July
Volunteering hours 9.30 – 6.30 (Flexible)
Sporting Equals are a national organisation funded by Sport England that work to increase sport involvement and participation amongst BME communities. We are setting up a fully interactive Sport Zone in partnership with sport governing bodies at the Manchester Caribbean Carnival at Platt Fields Park. We want to encourage people to from the BME community to try various sports.
The Manchester Caribbean Carnival is a a two day vibrant celebration of Caribbean culture, past and present. With a procession, music, food, street athletics and much more.
We require passionate, enthusiastic SportZone Volunteers. This will involve setting up the activity area, helping to attract event visitors to the Sport Zone, offering advice and information, collecting details of participants and helping with packing up. The Sport Zone will include Football, Table Tennis and a the fully interactive mobile boxing ring! This will be a great opportunity for someone who has a passion for sport or wants to try something new. It will also be a good chance to work with national governing bodies of sport such as The FA, LTA and England Boxing.
Volunteers don’t need any specific qualifications but a passion for sport will be great. It’s going to be a great day
Travel expenses and lunch allowance will be provided (subject to number of hours volunteered)

A new opportunity has been added to Manchester VSB by Manchester City Council – Sports Events Team, starts 03 August 2014

Skyride is a mass participation cycling event organised by Sky, British Cycling and Manchester City Council, aimed at getting more people of all ages and abilities cycling. It is in its 6th year and will be taking place on Sunday 3rd August 2014 from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
The route is a traffic free course through Manchester City Centre incorporating The Etihad Campus, National Cycling Centre & Albert Square
We are looking to recruit a dedicated team of volunteers from 9.00 to 17.00 to undertake a variety of roles on the day including:
.Stewarding – to marshal along the various routes to help manage the flow of cyclists along the route (in conjunction with Showsec staff).
.Information – to give out information along the route and to act as a key contact point for queries.
.Other – volunteers may be required to help man other activity areas during the day including for example water stations, bike racks, cycling demonstrations.
