Run In The Dark 2017 5k & 10k

*****New Venue – Ethiad Campus*****

As darkness sweeps around the globe on Wednesday, November 15th, thousands will pull on their running shoes and red flashing armbands and head for the door. In over 50 cities worldwide, they will be part of a living light show flowing through the streets like lava. Those same people will be helping to fast-track a cure for paralysis as part of the Life Style Sports Run in the Dark.

We need your help to make this happen! Volunteers will be asked to complete one of the following duties:

Registration – dealing with any enquiries and taking on the day entries.

Baggage area – taking people’s belongings and securing them so they are easy to find post event.

Route marshals – offering direction and encouragement to runners out on route.

Goody Bag area – giving out goody bags and drinks post event.

As part of our new Volunteer and leadership programme for 2017/18 academic year, GreaterSport is supporting students aged 16-25 to develop themselves in the field of leadership. The programme will support students with training, volunteer opportunities and rewards to support their development and pathways to employment.

Each student will be provided with a Sports Leaders ‘Go Lead’ award. Recieve appropriate training to support the School Games.

Training

There will be two full training days taking place on Friday 8th December 2017 and Friday 20th April 2018, this will include:

Sports Leaders ‘Go Lead’ Award- part 1 on 8th December and part 2 on 20th April. Safeguarding and Protecting Children
There will be a School Games induction on Thursday 15th March 2018 for Students who are supporting competitions at the Winter School Games on Tuesday 20th March 2018 and Thursday 28th June for students who are supporting competitions at the Summer Games on Friday 6th July 2018.

Volunteer Requirements:

Register on the student volunteer database: http://www.educationvip.com Attend both parts of the Sports Leaders Go Lead training
Complete a minimum of 12 volunteer hours either at the school games or in a community setting. Attend a School Games induction
Volunteer as an Event Leader at either the Winter Games on 20th March 2018 or Summer Games on 6th July.

Would you like to be a flag bearer on match days for Manchester City FC? Great Big Events are looking to recruit volunteers for the new season ahead. You will be part of the flag presentation on the pitch before kick off on match days. The role involves some light lifting and quick movements as you will be running on and off the pitch. If you are happy with these requirements and you are over 16 you can apply for this position now. Once you have registered you will be added to a database and you will be contacted regarding volunteering for each fixture. For volunteering you will receive a FREE ticket to the game.

Mancunians is Manchester’s Rugby League and Sports Club, we work across the city of Manchester encouraging people of all ages to participate in sport. The club is owned by it’s members and has grown fourfold since early 2014 with more growth expected in the coming year.

We currently run Rugby League and sports teams at a variety of age groups and at a variety of locations across the city and we have a fantastic volunteer opportunity for a Social Media and Marketing Intern.

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of social media, public relations and traditional methods of marketing.

The role is unpaid but we will support the successful candidate in their CPD requirements if necessary. We would expect that this role will take up two mornings a week.You can come to our office in Chorlton, South Manchester to work with and meet other members of the management team or work from home.

Your role as the Social Media Marketing Executive would be required to handle the club communications strategy and build on the excellent work that has been done so far.

Your responsibilities will be to:
– Act as social media community manager for the club
– Regularly update and monitor the club’s social media channels – Assist in the development of a new social media and PR strategy
– Work with our heritage team to communicate the findings of our rugby research project via social media
– Work with other volunteers and co-owners to find and create stories for publication – Create Marketing collateral to support our events and services – Further develop the club marketing programme
– Regularly evaluate social media activity and produce reports for the club management.

This is a voluntary role but some expenses may be paid for the correct candidate.

Children and Adults with Cerebral Palsy or a physical disability can enter. It is a fun based competition with no strict ASA laws applied. All abilities of swimmers are welcome and a floatation aid or someone in the water are allowed.
We need volunteers to help run the gala. I will need timekeepers, a starter, marshals and lane helpers so the swimmers know where to go and when.
