SPORTING EQUALS SPORT ZONE
Sporting Equals are a national organisation funded by Sport England that work to increase sport involvement and participation amongst BME communities. We are setting up a fully interactive Sport Zone in partnership with sport governing bodies at the Manchester Mela at Platt Fields park. We want to encourage people to try various sports. Sport such as Mini Tennis, Boxing and Football will be available

Manchester Mega Mela is the largest celebration of South Asian Culture in the North of England. Music, dance, food and traditional arts and crafts bring the sights, sounds and spicy aromas of South Asia to Platt Fields Park. It takes place over two days in the summer with around 60,000 people attending over the weekend

We require passionate, enthusiastic SportZone Volunteers. This will involve setting up the activity area, helping to attract event visitors to the Sport Zone, offering advice and information, collecting details of participants and helping with packing up. This will be a great opportunity for someone who has a passion for sport or wants to try something new. It will also be a good chance to work with national governing bodies of sport such as The FA, LTA and England Boxing.
Volunteers don’t need any specific qualifications but a passion for sport will be great. It’s going to be a great day

We don’t require our volunteers to have any previous experience all that we ask for is highly enthusiastic and self-motivated people that support all the participants and spectators throughout the day to create a very energetic atmosphere!

We are currently looking for volunteers in various sections: – Course Marshal
– Finish Line
– Festival
– Junior Spartan Race
– Registration

Typically, anyone who registers to volunteer through our website is willing to work a full day which means arriving and being ready for a briefing at 7:30am and is prepared to work until 6pm at the latest. In this instance we also provide the volunteer with a free lunch for the day. That said, we are currently offering that volunteers can do a split shift whereby they can work the AM shift (7:30am-1pm) and use their free race pass for that afternoon or alternatively use the pass for a morning heat and then report to the Volunteers Tent for a briefing and be ready to work 12pm-6pm. In this instance however, we do not provide a free lunch.
