The NBL Playoff Final are the climax of all the NBL and WNBL Leagues. It includes the Playoff Finals for NBL Divisions 1, 2, 3, 4 & WNBL Divisions 1 and 2. The playoffs start just after the end of the regular season which usually falls mid-March, with the finals coming at the end of April. We have always tried to ensure we provide an exciting climax to season so this is considered a top tier event. Typically this has been a well spectated event with previous years being around the 1500 mark (but this is team dependent!).

A new opportunity has been added to MCRVIP by Manchester City Council – Sports Events Team, starts 01 June 2019

Join in this opportunity now.

On Sunday 23 June, tens of thousands of people will fill the streets to celebrate our fantastic city in the tenth Manchester Day. We are looking for enthusiastic people to play a key role in helping us bring the streets to life with an incredible spectacle of music, colour and performance.

We need volunteers to be the public face of Manchester Day distributing programmes and answering any questions people have about the day. This is a vital part of the event so that everyone knows what’s happening, when and where. As you’ll be positioned along the route or in one of the city’s Squares, you’ll be in the heart of the action, seeing the Parade or performances and enjoying the atmosphere.

Volunteers for this role will work in teams with a team leader to refer to for any support needed and receive a briefing on the morning of the event to ensure they have all the information needed to be able to carry out the role.

We need volunteers to support our 2,000 participants in Manchester Day. If you sign up to this role then here’s a flavour of what you might be doing:

Parade Support
Help set up the parade at its start point near Manchester Piccadilly train station and play a vital part in on-the-day preparation and delivery – helping groups with floats and accessories and directing participants to their positions.

You could be part of the parade itself, acting as an info point for participants, pushing and pulling floats, distributing water and sun cream, or even carrying banners, flags and props.

Collect parade accessories and costumes after the parade, and work with the creative team to organise our storage space.

Squares Support
Assist our experienced Stage Managers in helping to bring the city centre squares alive with performances, decorations and installations. This supports the smooth running of all activity in the squares working closely with the Manchester Day team.

Registration Support
Help us register the groups on the morning of the parade, assist groups with their costumes, manage face painting and direct groups to the start point.

You’ll be able to specify which role you’d prefer to do when you sign up, we’ll do our best to offer you this role but can’t guarantee it. Or tell us if you don’t mind what you do.

Briefings will either be held on the day or prior to the event. You will be sent further details of this closer to the time.

The WoW workshop (located near Manchester Piccadilly train station) is the creative community hub designed especially for Manchester Day, where artists and participants work on their creations, costumes and movement. WoW Weekends are held at the workshop over 2 weekends leading up to the event and serve as a chance to make preparations for the big day in a lively creative and collaborative atmosphere.

We need people to help and build structures, make props and embellish costumes. It’s a great opportunity to work with established carnival artists and get an in-depth look behind the scenes of one of the city’s biggest events of the summer. You can volunteer as little or as much time as you like, from a few hours to a few weeks. Just tell us your availability and we’ll let you know how and when you can help out.

If you’re particularly interested in helping out with WoW Weekends, the dates are: WoW Weekend 1: Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 June
WoW Weekend 2: Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June

*Please note, if you sign up as a Creative Volunteer (in the lead up) you can also sign up as a Wayfinding Volunteer or a Participant Support Volunteer (on the day roles)!*

If you are interested in any of the opportunities above, register your interest by completing our online volunteering form at: http://www.manchesterday.co.uk/volunteer

*Please note that if you are interested in signing up, you can’t do it through this website, it needs to be through the Manchester Day one provided above*
