As darkness sweeps around the globe on Wednesday, 12th of November, thousands will pull on their running shoes and red flashing armbands and head for the door. In over 30 cities worldwide, they will be part of a living light show flowing through the streets. Those same people will be helping to fast-track a cure for paralysis as part of the Life Style Sports Run in the Dark.

Access Sport is a dynamic charity whose mission is to give more children, particularly in disadvantaged areas, access to a wide range of quality local sport. We achieve this through empowering the inspirational community volunteers who set up and run local sports clubs with cash, expert advice and networking to help create thriving clubs which get more people positively engaged.

The Ignite Programme
Creating a positive sporting legacy for disabled children and young people. The Ignite Programme works to up skill community clubs and volunteers with the tools, knowledge and support necessary to ensure disabled young people are welcomed into community sport so that they can enjoy it’s many benefits.

Our Ignite BMX club are looking for volunteers to assist at their weekly sessions. Their sessions take place every Tuesday evening from 7pm-9pm @ The National Cycling Centre

Roles include helping in the bike store room, kitting up the participants and general on the track manning to assist participants who require additional help.

A new opportunity has been added to Manchester VSB by Mancunians RL, starts 28 October 2014

Mancunians are running a week-long project across central Manchester in partnership with Greater Manchester Police, Manchester City Council and several youth projects. They will coach Handball, Dodgeball and Rugby League in Hulme, Moss Side and Whalley Range to young people aged 10-15 years old.

We are looking for coaches of all abilities and would like to hear from anyone who can volunteer on this exciting project. So, if you’re newly qualified, experienced or if you’re looking to get into coaching for the first time, then they’d love to hear from you.

The project will last for four days and culminate with a festival of sport at their community facility at Hough End, Chorlton where all the groups will play against each other at the three sports.

We have a variety of roles including lead coach, assistant coaches and general volunteers. You’ll need to be available for Tuesday-Friday October 28th – 31st inclusive, between the hours of 10.45 -15.00.

The Ignite multi sports inclusive camp is an inclusive opportunity for young disabled and non-disabled people (6-19) to participate in a range of sports such as athletics, basketball, squash, tag rugby, cricket, netball and football.

Access Sport is looking for a group of enthusiastic and motivated people who are passionate about the provision of disability sport and physical activity in Manchester. The key role throughout the camp will be to support and encourage the participants and to help maintain a fun and exciting atmosphere.

This event will take place from 29th October to 31st October 2014 – 9.30am to 15.00pm at Melland High School, Wembley Road, Gorton, M18 7DT

No previous experience and training is required for this opportunity. A full briefing on the day will be given to all volunteers.
