Wigan Hockey Club has been based at Wigan Sports Club since 1987. The club has traditionally produced top level players and coaching staff that have participated at regional and international levels. We currently have 2 Ladies Team’s and 2 Men’s Team’s along with establishing junior teams.

This coaching opportunity enables you to work with our junior and senior hockey players from all abilities, assisting and leading coaching sessions and matches.

This opportunity is great for those who have a Hockey coaching qualification either at Level 1 or Level 2. It is essential that the volunteer has these qualifications

Volunteers play a vital role at all our Race for Life 5k, 10k, Pretty Muddy® and Marathon events across the country.

So whatever skills you may have, we’ve got a role for you! We would like your help with delivering an amazing experience to our participants.

Without volunteers, our events simply couldn’t happen. Your support helps us to put on the best events possible to raise life saving funds and ultimately help to beat cancer sooner. Your support and presence is really appreciated!

We have four exciting roles for you to choose from:

– Local Promotion Volunteer

Your role is to help us spread the word around. You will need to place 200 flyers and 20 posters in your local area e.g. libraries, shops and workplaces, give them to friends and family to make sure your whole community knows about Race for Life.

– Course Marshal Volunteer

Your role is to inspire, cheer and motivate the participants by covering one of the marshal points on the course. This crucial role ensures the event runs smoothly and participants feel motivated. This role is perfect for team players with great communication skills who can use their initiative when dealing with anything that may occur on the course.

– Event Day Volunteer

We’re on the lookout for volunteers with a proactive attitude and loads of enthusiasm to join the gang. Your role may include you to set up marquees, putting out flags and banners or getting water to the start line and handing out medals at the finish line.

– Enquires & Administration Volunteer

You’ll be responsible for setting up the administration marquees, helping assist participants and spectators with any queries. We’re looking for volunteers who have great communication and organisation skills, who has a proactive attitude and ideally some administrative experience.

The strongest individuals in the UK will be competing to see who is crowned the 2016 UK’s Best Weightlifter. A new added element for qualification will be present in the 2016 Rio Olympics Games!

Volunteers are essential to deliver an outstanding competition experience to the people who matter most, the athletes!

The roles of the volunteers will be to support the delivery of a detailed sport presentation plan, coordinate technical officials and lifters for the ceremonies. The volunteers will assist in providing first class customer service to spectators, VIPs and corporate partners. The volunteers at the British Weightlifting Championships will get a taste of every element of a major sporting event.

Essential skills/traits:
– Must love sport!
Not everyone in sport is a superstar. We want volunteers that simply love sports, who is driven and can work behind the scenes.
– We want volunteers to be confident and can show excellent communication skills.
You need to be able to communicate with people effectively and with different styles of communication. Don’t get flustered when under pressure but ensure that you are calm and collected in order to deliver first class service.

Desirable skills/traits

– Experience at volunteering.
It doesn’t have to be in sport, but some previous volunteering experience is always a bonus and might make you suitable to be a team leader.

– Cash handling experience.
For certain Front of House roles experience at processing cash and card transactions while keeping records is important.

If you think you are up to the challenge and have the right stuff to make the Nation’s Strongest Sport Event that extra bit better then this is the role for you!

GreaterSport are looking for passionate, driven individuals who have a real interest in sport to get involved in an exciting opportunity within the Greater Manchester School Games.
The Greater Manchester School Games is part of a national programme that aims to harness the power of the Olympics and Paralympics to motivate and inspire young people to participate and compete in high quality competition within and across schools.
The GM School Games will see over 5000 young aspiring athletes from across Greater Manchester come together to compete across the year in 72 competitions across 13 different sports.

We are looking for individuals who can be our eyes and ears on the day of the event. There are two role available on the day:

?Sports Specific Event Volunteer- based at one of our iconic sporting venues, providing event support to the various National Governing bodies that are there delivering competitions.
?Media Volunteer- Visiting our iconic sporting venues and competitions utilising a variety of media tools to capture the day’s event.

To be considered for these positions, you must
.Be available on the Wednesday 6th June 2016
.Attend an informal interview week commencing 13th June 2016 .Attend a pre event induction 29th June 2016
.Have an interest in event management/media
.Have some form of event experience/or media experience (any levels)
.Agree to manage a competition venue, support the various NGB’s on the day of events & provide additional support to Leaders, schools & participants. Or
.Agree to produce articles, case studies, small reports, pictures, tweets etc. that can be used to promote the event on our website and social media platforms.
