This competitions aim is to raise money for the David Hopkins Foundation (Charity) to help community sports in the Stockport area.
The main role of the event will be marshalling athletes to and from the competition area. You will be given high-vis and a walkie talkie to allow for comms from the organiser.

In some instances you might have to help with other event related roles such as ‘loading’ the bar.

Anything sport specific will be explained during the team briefing before the competition

Manchester Girls Can is part of the great ‘This Girl Can’ campaign by Sport England, to support women and girls to get active. We are running a netball tournament and fun day on Saturday 25th July at Wright Robinson Sports College. Activities include Zumba, Yoga, Tennis, Women’s Football, Smoothie bike, KidZone, Wish Upon a Sparkle and more… The event is run with Key 103 who will bring their team, including some presenters. We are looking for women of all ages to help support on the day – e.g. registering participants, showing people where activities are and encouraging women to get involved, plus set-up and clear-up. Event Outline

Skyride is a mass participation cycling event organised by Sky, British Cycling and

Manchester City Council, aimed at getting more people of all ages and abilities cycling. It is now in its 7th year and will be taking place on Sunday 2 August 2015 from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

The route is a 11.5km traffic free course through Manchester City Centre from National Cycling Centre, Etihad Campus and Chinatown.

Volunteer Roles

We are looking to recruit volunteers from 9.00 to 17.00 to undertake a variety of roles on the day including:

? Stewarding – to marshal along the various routes to help manage the flow of cyclists along the route (in conjunction with Showsec staff).

? Information – to give out information at key points along the route and to act as a key contact point for queries.

? Other – volunteers may be required to help man other activity areas during the day including for example water stations, bike racks, cycling demonstrations.

Each volunteer will be provided with high-vis clothing to wear on the day. Travel expenses will be paid.

All volunteers will be provided with lunch and a bottle of water.

Volunteer Briefing Session

A briefing session for volunteers will be arranged during the week commencing 27th July.

This date will be confirmed shortly and an invite will be sent to all those volunteers confirming their availability to help with this year’s Sky Ride.
