A new opportunity has been added to MCRVIP by Dementia Friendly Swimming, starts 16 October 2017

Join in this opportunity now.

We are looking for enthusiastic and empathetic volunteers to support people affected by dementia, whether personally or as a carer, when attending the dementia friendly swimming sessions across Manchester’s leisure centres.

You will offer general support to people attending the session and help create a fun, safe and supportive environment for them to swim in. This may include: – Meeting and greeting people on arrival
– Showing people the way to the changing rooms/pool/showers
– Checking equipment, such as floats, are on poolside for use – Helping people use the lockers
– Being someone they can talk to during the session

You may be asked to support the centre Dementia Champion with the follow up of enquiries to the session but will be supported through this process.

You won’t be responsible for lifesaving duties or any personal care. Please click on the below links for the leisure centre of your preference.
